Analysis for Studio Work 8– June, 2012

Description:
This piece is similar to the last Studio Work. I decided to continue on Ancient Egyptians. This time I chose to use pencil. I used techniques such as value and shading to make the drawing realistic. I was able to focus on details, and focus in the face details.

Media/Process:
This piece is done with Pencil on paper. With shading techniques I was able to make the drawing realistic and detailed. I looked at where there would usually be more lights than other places on the face, body, or dress itself.

Influence:
My influence for this piece was Ancient Egyptians. I was also influenced by my Studio Work 7, because I liked incorporating fashion, my theme, to Egypt, my culture.

Strengths:
My strengths for this piece was the shading and value. I was trying to make it as realistic as possible. I mainly focused on the face and hair, with adding values in the places were there was no light directed on it and less value with places that came out of the face like cheeks, and nose.

Weaknesses:
My weakness for this piece is that I was not able to shade that well on the dress. That was because the dress was long, so the lines kind of showed instead of looking natural and blurry.

Critique:
Overall, I really liked this piece. I would really like to continue on with combining my culture in my artwork. I realized that I was better in using pencil more than any other media/material. I tried to make the drawing realistic with techniques such as shading and value.

Development for Next Piece:
I want to go more in depth with the idea of Ancient Egyptians Women's clothes. I will focus on the cloth itself, and the accessorizes. I also might do a sculpture or a dress of a Ancient Egyptian Women.
